Hardware

What is a Mesh?

A Mesh is a wireless network that sends data between devices.

What is a Node?

A Node is a device on the Mesh network that receives and transmits data.

What hardware is included in a VIBRA-SYNC™ system?

The VIBRA-SYNC™ system consists of a Hub, Node(s), and Sensor(s). Each component works together to collect machine data and provide continuous remote monitoring of your equipment.

View the VIBRA-SYNC™ Setup page to learn more about the system components.

What does each component (Hub, Node, and Sensor) do?

The Hub is the bridge between the ACTION mesh and the internet, allowing you to monitor your equipment remotely.

The Sensor collects vibration and operating data from your equipment and outputs a local Bluetooth signal.

The Node is a device that receives that data and transmits it across the ACTION mesh network.

Is the hardware weatherproof?

The VIBRA-SYNC™ Node and Sensors are designed for outdoor use with an IP67 enclosure. The Hub should be installed in a covered location.

How are the Sensors mounted to equipment?

The Sensors, Nodes, and Hub come as a kit and are designed for simple installation that can be securely bolted on using standard hand tools.

Are there batteries that need to be changed?

No, every component of the VIBRA-SYNC™ system is powered by mains electricity, so there are no batteries to replace.

Does the hardware require routine maintenance?

No, other than occasional inspections and keeping the hardware clean and free of debris, no routine maintenance is required.

Monitoring & Alerts

Why is stroke important to monitor?

Too much movement (over-stroke) puts extra stress on parts. Keeping the stroke in design-appropriate range will reduce downtime and maintenance requirements.

Visit our Troubleshooting page for more information on checking and reading stroke.

Why is RPM important to monitor?

RPM can affect stroke, machine stress and screening performance. RPM is typically stable over time but can change with part wear or if drive parts are changed. Keeping RPM within design parameters is important to machine longevity. Synchronous (toothed belt) drives are a great way to have stable RPM over time.

Visit our Troubleshooting page for more information on checking and reading stroke.

How does VIBRA-SYNC™ measure stroke and RPM?

The VIBRA-SYNC™ Sensor calculates the movement and frequency of vibratory equipment using its internal accelerometer readings.

How will I know if there is problem with a machine?

The machine’s VIBRA-SYNC™ dashboard shows operation with color coded, easy-to-evaluate gauges and a graph. If a serious condition is present, visual and email alerts indicate action is needed. More running information is available, if desired. Visit our Troubleshooting page for additional help diagnosing issues.

How often does VIBRA-SYNC™ report to the web app?

If the machine is powered the Sensor sends a report every 15 minutes.

Can I see RPM and stroke without internet access?

Yes, using the VIBRA-SYNC™ App on a smartphone or tablet you can check local Sensor data.

Installation & Compatibility

What do I need to get started?

To use VIBRA-SYNC™, you will need hardware and a web app subscription. See our Setup Page for more information.

Can I install VIBRA-SYNC™ on existing equipment?

Yes, VIBRA-SYNC™ is designed to be easy to install, even if not equipped from the factory.

What types of vibratory equipment are compatible with VIBRA-SYNC™?

VIBRA-SYNC™ can read from 250 to 1200 RPM, and 0.5 mm to over 55 mm of stroke, making it applicable to most vibratory equipment.

How difficult is the hardware to install?

Follow our Setup Instructions for easy install. The Hub, Node, and Sensor typically install in a couple hours.

Can I move my VIBRA-SYNC™ hardware to another machine?

Yes, the hardware can be moved and the machine name can be updated on the website.

Can I add more Sensors or Nodes later as my operation grows?

Yes, additional Sensors, Nodes, and monitored machines can be added at any time, allowing the system to expand with your needs and grow with your operation.

What types of mobile devices are compatible?

The VIBRA-SYNC™ mobile app is compatible with iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

Technology & Connectivity

How does VIBRA-SYNC™ send data to the cloud?

Typically, the VIBRA-SYNC™ Hub connects to customer Wi-Fi. Other options like cellular Wi-Fi hotspot or direct GSM satellite are available if desired.

Do I need Wi-Fi coverage across my entire job site?

Only the Hub needs access to Wi-Fi. The VIBRA-SYNC™ Nodes connect with each other and the Hub.

How far apart can Child Nodes be from each other?

It depends on local signals, but a typical range is over 300’ line of site. The mesh can be extended with extra Nodes if needed. Visit our Setup page to learn about VIBRA-SYNC™ parts.

Can I monitor machines at multiple sites?

Yes, you can remotely monitor equipment across multiple facilities. The VIBRA-SYNC™ web application allows you organize locations, job sites, and process lines into groups for easy management.

Do I need to hire an electrician?

Yes, the Node must be connected to mains or motor power by a qualified electrician.
